Last week I was in Texas for a few days and I had such a great time! It was a very busy few days spent building up our team and our faith and filming training videos for our Drops of Joy family. It was great to spend time with people who are “crunchier” than I am. What I mean by that is…
There were no microwaves in sight, the fridge and cupboards were filled with healthy food and supplements, and they drank things like kombucha (shudder). I politely refused the first time it was offered to me but then I decided to look up the health benefits of it and WOW! It’s incredibly healing to the gut, helps prevent diseases, protects the lungs, improves mental health, supports your liver, and is beneficial to the cardiovascular system. No wonder people drink this disgusting magical elixir. Hah! The next time it was offered to me I reluctantly accepted a bottle and did a double take at the vinegar smell. Whew! I slowly sipped it over a few hours (yes it took me that long to choke down) and eventually finished it. My friend laughed at me goodheartedly and told me that my body was going to crave it. To my surprise she was right! The next day I found myself thinking about that vinegar drink and the second time I had it I was shocked to see the taste had improved to me. I even asked a friend for her recipe to make my own because it adds up if you keep buying it! When I got home from Texas I started craving bone broth of all things because I had seen a friend on Facebook post about it a few times. When I looked up the health benefits I got to work making it because it’s amazing for joint health, also healing to the gut, excellent for skin, supports the immune system, boosts detoxification, and boosts your metabolism. I’ve been drinking it all week and the inflammation in my body has significantly reduced.
The point of the article is that if you’re anything like me you’ve been resisting getting out of your comfort zone when it comes to “crunchy” things. I assumed that kombucha was disgusting so I ignored the health benefits of it and refused to even try it. Now that I’ve tried it, I’m craving more and more super healthy things. If you’ve been resisting going crunchy because it’s too much work or might taste gross, I say give it a shot! You might be pleasantly surprised at how your body responds. I know I was!
