God’s Up to Something

God’s Up to Something

by Hannah Keeley

I used to go to a church where no skateboarding of any kind was tolerated. That’s not a huge deal for me since I’m not exactly the skateboarding type. That being said, another church that my kids took classes at had an actual skate park welcoming skaters of all kinds. I thought the contrast between these two messages was just too dramatic and God’s voice just really spoke to me through it!

God wants to do spectacular things in our lives. Sometimes, however, we are convinced that…

He can only do it THIS way or THAT way. We get our eyes so focused on exactly how God is going to work out events in our lives that we don’t see the opportunities that He places right there in front of our faces.

Hot dogging it on a skateboard may not be your idea of righteousness, but who says it’s not God’s? One church is convinced that skateboarding is not a good idea. It could probably bring in the wrong kind of people. Another church is convinced that skateboarding is a great way to bring in more people and share the love of Christ. Be open to a new opportunity this week. God never does the same old, same old. In Isaiah 43:19, God tells us that He is doing a NEW thing. One version says it like this, “I am going to do something new. It is already happening. Don’t you recognize it?”

One of the hardest things we have to do is to bend our will to conform to God’s. We want something so bad. We are sure that it is the right thing for us. We know everything will be great as long as this situation works out in this particular way. But God may be doing something totally different. He may be doing something brand new. He’s always up to something! If you can take the focus off your desire and put it on God, then you may just be able to recognize the miracle taking place right before your eyes.

I know it can be hard to lay that desire down. But I also know that everything we give up for God, He will return to us in so much abundance that our very lives can hardly hold all the goodness and favor. God’s dreams are far bigger than anything your mind can imagine. Open yourself up to God’s miracles.

Hannah Keeley was once in overwhelmed mom living in a cluttered house, deep in debt, out of shape, and barely hanging on. But one day, after finding herself sobbing uncontrollably into a pile of clean laundry, she realized God has bigger and better plans for her (just like He does for each one of His children). Beginning that day, she began making changes in her life that took her from overwhelmed to overjoyed. Today, she’s helping moms do the same. Hannah, her husband, Blair, and their seven children live in Richmond, Virginia, and are having the time of their lives!
