God is Fighting for You
by Diana Scothorn
God will go before you and contend with those circumstances and people who contend with you. Contend means to take control over the opposition. 2 Chronicles 20:17 states, “You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you.”
Who can go against God? No weapon formed against us can prosper. No matter what we are going through, we will go through the other side in victory with God!
God’s Word is truth, and His truth will contend with the devil’s lie. The lie is anything the enemy (the devil) tells us that does not deliver the truth of God’s Word.
The lie is we lose; the truth is, we win. The lie is we die; the truth is we live!
We will never exhaust God’s truth. We will have exceedingly and abundantly more than enough!
On the other side of God’s truth is…
…our victory! God’s truth overpowers and contends with satan’s lies.
LIGHT OVERPOWERS DARKNESS. When we walk into a dark room and flip the light switch on, the darkness goes away, and the room is filled with light.
God contends with our opposition. Jude 1:3 says, “Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.
We must contend earnestly for our faith. We have to do our part. We have to be willing to fight for what we believe. When we contend we use our faith despite how things look.
There was a day I recall when some disappointing things transpired in my workday. I felt so defeated, and as I was driving, I thought, “Diana, stir yourself up, and use your faith!”
It’s up to us to contend with satan’s lies. We may not feel like it, but our feelings do not activate faith. I said out loud, “I stir myself up, Lord. I am blessed, and I have so much to be grateful for. No weapon formed against my mind, my body, or my day, can prosper. Lord, You said, You would contend with the opposition that contends with me. I choose to speak the truth to overpower the deception of satan’s lies.”
I immediately began to feel stronger, and the Lord brought someone to my mind to call that had been struggling. I picked up the phone, and as I got myself off my mind, I began to feel better!
The devil wants me, myself, and I on our minds! God wants Jesus, the truth of His Word to be on our minds. He has promised if we will tend to His Kingdom (His way of doing things), He will tend to our needs. (Philippians 4:19)
When we trust Jesus, keeping our focus on all He has already done we rest assured we have already won.
When we put more trust in God’s Word than we do in our circumstances and feelings, we will see those circumstances are subject to change. However, the truth of God’s Word always stays the same.
