Get Outside Mama

Get Outside Mama

By Meggan Larson

In this day of social distancing and mandatory shutdowns, it can feel pretty isolating. I live in the middle of nowhere and it’s been a bit on the lonely side. I don’t see many people and I suppose that’s a good thing right now but it can still feel lonely. Today I did something out of the ordinary and it felt good. I mean it felt REALLY good! I gathered up my family, leashed up the dog, and…

…we went for a 30-minute walk down the road. I know what you’re thinking. “Wow, what a thrill that must have been.” (heavy on the sarcasm) I get it. A 30-minute walk doesn’t sound too thrilling but here’s what it did.

It got me outside into the fresh air.

It got my heart rate up.

It gave me a much-needed change of perspective.

I got to appreciate the beauty all around me.

It reminded me that spring is here and the weather is warming up and this social distancing won’t last forever.

I was amazed at how much better I felt after just 30 minutes of exercise! It got me out of Facebook and gave me a break from the Covid-19 news and frankly, that is needed for just about everyone these days. If you’re at all able to I highly recommend getting out for a walk. If you’re on lock down and can’t actually go for a walk then get outside in your yard! Do some gardening, rake some of the leaves you never finished raking up last year, finish a project you’ve been meaning to, or just grab a journal and do some journalling out back. Bonus points if you walk around in your bare feet to do some grounding! God has made our bodies in such an amazing way that just walking around in your bare feet is healing to your body.

However you get outside, do yourself a favour and turn the news off for a bit. It’s not going anywhere and shutting it off will give you a much needed break from all the drama.

We are going to be hosting a 28-day “Healthy Home Challenge: From Panicked to Prepared” in order to help ease your mind during this cray cray time! You’ll get everything you need delivered right to your door and we will be walking through everything together one step at a time. Let’s get the immune-suppressing chemicals out of your home and the cleanliness in so you can feel good about what you’re using in and around your family all while supporting your immune system! The challenge starts on April 6th! Get all the details here.
