Focus Your Faith

Focus Your Faith

by Drenda Keesee

Does your dream seem further away than when you started? Are you getting discouraged? Have you lost sight of your God-given destiny?

You may have set out on your destiny full of hope and purpose, your head brimming with possibilities. The excitement was at an all-time high, your end goal was crystal clear, and you were invincible. Until…life happened. Monday came. You got buried in paperwork. Your friend got sick. Your mother died. You got in a fight with your spouse. You found out you are pregnant. You feel like you can’t keep up.

Life turned your once crystal-clear, totally doable goal into an out of reach impossibility. You fell off course and lost focus and before you knew it, you’d given up…

Don’t be ashamed or embarrassed. Today is a new day! It’s not too late to clear the cobwebs and start running after your dreams again. I want to encourage you and pull you up out of your lull. I want to help you get back on course towards what God has called you to do. It’s in the impossible situations that God’s Spirit will rise up and do the very thing you cannot do. But, you MUST stay the course!

How do you keep focused and on the path God has for you?

You keep your dream alive by continuing to look at God and His Word. Keep your eyes on what He has for you. Guard yourself against negative influences, because the image you are beholding is the image you are becoming. Take a few minutes to do an inventory of your life. What are you feeding on? What are you allowing into your home? What kinds of things or people are influencing your decisions? All of these things affect you and who you are becoming. They are determining if you are getting closer or farther away from your destiny.

I want you to be able to hear what God is saying to you, to see what He has for you. It is BIGGER than you think! Keep the right images and thoughts in front of you, especially in these tough times. Stay in the Word of God, stay focused on what God says, feed on the Word of God, house the Word of God, trust the Word of God, and I promise it will bring the results to pass.

“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up”

(Galatians 6:9, NLT).

Through their own life experiences, the Keesee’s have found the principles from God’s Word to be powerful and effective. At one point, Drenda was a young, suicidal feminist with no hope of ever being “good enough” for her own standards of perfection. She never wanted the “inconvenience” of a husband or children, and she was on her own path to success. But the stress of trying to achieve perfection and perform for love left her broken and used. She had success, but it was nothing compared to the pain and loneliness it had also brought.

That’s when God got a hold of her heart. It was there—at her lowest point—that she found the One who accepted and loved her, faults and all. Since that transformation, Drenda has had a passion to reach women who find themselves where she once was.

She married Gary after attending college, and there she found herself in a personal boot camp of sorts. She says, “I cried and told God, ‘I can do anything but be a wife and mother.’” She committed to learning how to do it God’s way. Through the many years of raising their children and struggling to make ends meet, Drenda learned from their mistakes. “I didn’t know how to be a wife and mother, but God saved our marriage, taught us how to parent our children for success, showed us how to have financial success, and then the irony of all ironies, He called us to ministry.” It’s truly because of these life experiences that Drenda can now share so many insightful principles for people who are now going through the same struggles.

Gary and Drenda pastor Faith Life Church at The Now Center in New Albany, Ohio, and also are the CEOs of Forward Financial Group.
