Focus on Your Assignment

Focus on Your Assignment

by Diana Scothorn

God has assigned to each of us a specific course to take.  An assignment is a task or post to which one has been appointed.  If we’re not careful, we can lose sight of our appointment through disappointment.

I have had many opportunities to “throw in the towel” and allow the things that have happened to me to define me. I had to decide in advance not to allow what someone did to me, to block what God wants to do through me.

This is the sum total of what Satan tries to do…

…block our blessings so that we’ll abandon our assignment.

I have found when I focus on being a blessing, I am more aware that my assignment has nothing to do with me, but with those surrounding me.

Although God has a definite assignment for our life, unfortunately, so does the devil!

When something is definite, it is clearly defined or determined. It is not vague. God’s plan for our life is fixed, precise, and exact.

God knows when we are to move and when we are to stay.  He knows when to speak and when to be silent. He knows every detail of every moment of our life. He wants us to be a vessel for the blessings to flow through. While our eyes are on others, God’s eyes are on us.

God says in His Word He has a determined end. He knows our beginning, and He knows our end. If we follow His assignment to be a blessing, it will turn out well.

In the Bible, the assignment on Joseph’s life was revealed through a dream. His brothers were jealous and did evil to him, and they meant harm to Joseph by selling him into slavery.

It’s encouraging to know; God is not moved by circumstances that happen to us. Our assignment is determined. Although evil was plotted against Joseph, God placed him in a position where he was able to save their entire nation.

In Genesis 50:20, Joseph said to his brothers, “You meant evil against me, but God used it for good.” Anyone in any condition can be a blessing! God will not allow one thing in our life to go to waste. He will take the fragments of pain and hurt to encourage and bless others when needed.

Isaiah 52:7 says, “How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace.”  We can be a blessing by simply encouraging others.

All things work together for good if we love and trust God with His plan for our life and stay on assignment! It’s hard to be a blessing when we’re only concerned about what others have done to us.

That is the entirety of Satan’s plot; To cause pain to block our blessing! BEWARE: the devil wants to get us off our assignment by causing us to get our eyes off Jesus and on ourselves.

God has our assignment planned on His timeline! Every detail from our career, spouse, children, and finances has a pre-determined end.

Our assignment is to be a blessing and make a difference! It is good news to know, where the blessings flow satan cannot go.

When you are thinking of ways to bless others, God already has a plan in motion, for how He will bless you.

Our assignment is to stay on assignment. If we allow ourselves to be a vessel for the blessing to flow, God will make sure we are blessed wherever we go for the blessing to continually flow.
