Fit To Fight
by Diana Scothorn
We have the power to fight the devil; however, we must be fit spiritually. Having been in the fitness business for years, I understand the importance of a strong core. Strong core muscles are essential because weak core muscles can lead to more fatigue, less endurance, and unnecessary injuries.
The same principles apply to our…
…spiritual core.
If we don’t develop spiritual strength, we’ll become fatigued, with nothing left to fight and go on, and ultimately left with wounded hearts.
We must be spiritually fit to fight the devil with his daily attempts to knock us down. We have to prepare our minds with the Word of God and incline our ears to the voice of God.
When we allow our emotions to get in the way, it hinders spiritual wisdom. It causes our strength to fail and distorts our vision. The devil wants us to think everything and everyone else is the problem.
Our enemy is not people, things, or circumstances but the devil who manipulates through people, things, and circumstances, and tries to control the outcome. We have the power we need to fight the enemy if we open our eyes to spiritual truth.
Ephesians 1:3 says God has equipped us with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places, and Colossians 1:9 says we are to pray for God to fill us with the knowledge of His will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives. It says we will receive the knowledge of God, and we will be strengthened with all power!
Equipped means He has provided us with whatever is needed to undertake the devil’s plans. God’s Word will halt Satan’s dirty and deceptive plans. The spirit realm is REAL, the devil is REAL, GOD is REAL, and His Word is active and sharper than a two-edged sword!
God is ready to attack the devil at the onset “if” we will guard against fear and attack the real culprit with the weapon of God’s Word. Ephesians 6:12 says,” For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but principalities, but powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in a high place.”
Living a life of victory requires the discipline to become spiritually fit. Our eyes must be open to the reality of the unseen, but our spirit, soul, and body must also be in a fit condition to experience daily victory.
