Feeling Exhausted?

Feeling Exhausted?

by Diana Scothorn

I’m continually reminded when you get to the point you wake up tired and go to bed tired, no matter how much you try to rest, you are EXHAUSTED; it’s a sign your spirit is worn down.

To exhaust means to empty the contents. It’s when you’re depleted or drained completely. Simply put, there’s nothing left to give.

We can not expect to…

…put out more than goes in. The Bible says though our outward body may perish, our inward body is being renewed day by day. (2 Corinthians 4:16).

God never intended us to DO GOOD, BE GOOD, LOOK GOOD, FEEL GOOD without daily washing and renewing our minds. It’s imperative to read our Bible and soak in God’s love and wisdom daily.

Too often, we’re so consumed with MAINTAINING SCHEDULES we don’t slow down and spend quiet time alone with the Lord.  It’s like not taking time on a road trip to stop and get gas.

It may appear you’re making good time and going farther, but when you run out of gas, the time you thought you saved is lost, and the frustration will spiral and ultimately cause regret.

We need quality time each day with the Lord. The Bible tells us we’re to seek God first and His way of doing things, then all the other things that concern us will be personally taken care of by God.  (Mathew 6:33).

Many times if we’re not mindful, we spend quiet time searching for answers and pleading with God! God is desirous of one thing: relationship.

When I’m spending time with my husband, it’s for one reason; I desire him. I choose him over anyone else. I don’t want anything from him; I want him! I want to be near him, with him, and enjoy his company. I’m not looking for answers, only his companionship!

The Lord desires our fellowship as well. Through intimate conversation, we’ll gain wisdom and find the answers we’re searching for.  The STRENGTH we need each day is in our INWARD MAN! It’s in our spirit where Jesus resides, and all wisdom comes from Him!

James 3:17 tells us, “but the wisdom that comes from heaven is first pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.

Translated… God will give pure advice with no partiality or hidden motive. We can trust it’s in our best interest, and in the end, we will bear fruit and have good results.

When I feel burned out, stressed out, and lack energy, looking for answers, I have concluded that the ANSWER is not somewhere outward but on the INSIDE of ME!

The more intimate time we spend with God, the more energy and wisdom we acquire to do greater things for God.

We cannot give out more than we take in. When pressure arises and life weighs us down, it is time to evaluate if we’re “DOING” for God or “BEING” with God!
