Family Movie Reviews-Maze Runner

“Holly on Hollywood”

by Holly McClure

“The Scorch Trials” is the second in “The Maze Runner” trilogy, based on the young-adult, post-apocalyptic science fiction trilogy, by James Dashner. It picks up where the first movie left off, with Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) and his fellow Gladers escaping from their captivity and journeying across the scorching desert to find help from a group of resistance fighters. Together they take on WCKD’s forces in a battle for their lives and future. Also starring Patricia Clarkson, Barry Pepper, Lili Taylor

Parent’s this is not a kid’s movie! The PG-13 rating is for mature teen to adults because of intense action, wartime violence, chase scenes with zombie-looking creatures, language and mature themes like: selfish adult leaders sacrificing teenager’s lives, in order to find a cure to save what’s left of mankind. I enjoyed this second installment because of the interesting storyline, action and faster pace – but these days, it’s getting harder to watch movies with Zombie-like creatures and not be reminded of others (“I Am Legend”, “World War Z”, etc.) I enjoyed “The Scorch Trials” but unfortunately, we won’t find out what happens to our heroes until Feb of 2017 in, “The Maze Runner: The Death Cure”.
