Essential Oils Over Air Fresheners
By Terri Bonin
It’s time we had a heart to heart about air fresheners. Look, I know they smell nice. Or at least we think they smell nice. Now that I’m completely off of air fresheners, candles, and all things scenty, I find that I get headaches every time I’m exposed to the scents now. I can’t walk down the laundry and cleaning aisles at the grocery store anymore without holding my breath and actually, I just skip them altogether now because I don’t buy that stuff. I think that the reason I get headaches from smelling those things now is…
That they’re junk. Seriously! I know that’s a bit harsh but come on y’all. Many contain phthalates, which is a group of chemicals that may affect human reproduction and development. That seems like a bad thing, yes? When using a “peppermint” scented air freshener, you’re really smelling synthetic compounds that were formulated to smell like peppermint. Personally, I’d prefer to use actual peppermint. I totally understand the desire to make your space smell good and that is a great thing! But overwhelming your family and friends with chemical compounds formulated to smell good just doesn’t seem like the best idea to me. That’s why I use Young Living essential oils in my diffuser. They are 100% pure, therapeutic grade essential oils and they not only smell great, they also benefit your body in many different ways. I would rather people come to my house and enjoy the smell while benefitting from the oils instead of smelling something that I know isn’t good for them. Essential oils can support your immune system, provide relief during cough and cold season, and even support an improved mood. These oils are the real deal and all I use on my family. If you’ve never tried essential oils before just send my assistant an email at Meggan@thedropsofjoy.org and get a free sample of the top three oils that Young Living has. It’s time to start freshening up your space naturally!
