Drain The Toxins
By Meggan Larson
I’m going to tell you a secret. I know what my big Christmas gift is this year. Shhhh! Okay honestly I usually do know what it is but this Christmas I’m getting something I’ve wanted since LAST Christmas! You see, while I was going through cancer nearly seven years ago, I had a friend come down to visit me and she brought this foot bath thingy that looked just like any other foot soak tub. But this was no ordinary foot bath! Oh no. It was…
An Ionic Foot Detox Bath. What in the world is that? I know, I know. Whoever heard of such a thing before? Here’s a brief summary of what it does. During a session, the client submerses his or her feet in a specific concentration of salt water. A metal coil is placed in the water and is attached to a machine which emits a pulse of electricity. When the electric current is pulsed through the salt water, the water splits into positive and negative ions. These ions in the salt water are attracted to the ionic compounds in your body which are not of benefit to you — such as pesticides, preservatives, and heavy metals. Some of these toxins are pulled out from your body through the pores of your feet. Your feet have over 4,000 pores and they are the largest in the body. This makes makes the foot an ideal modality for detoxifying the body.
So all that being said, I had a session immediately after chemotherapy and the water was absolutely revolting. I was both disgusted and thrilled that it was no longer in my body. Hah! Ever since, I’ve wanted my own but I thought they were thousands and thousands of dollars. Turns out, a good personal use one isn’t even $100! So that was my big Christmas wish this year. I’ve been officially labelled as “crunchy” and you know what? I’m okay with that. I know the importance of pulling toxins out of our bodies because it is a HUGE contributing factor to weight loss (or gain if you don’t remove them). I’m looking forward to finishing the year off with less toxins in my body. How about you?
