Don’t Think, Just Do It!
by Meggan Larson
I woke up this morning feeling energized and ready to take on anything. I was going to clean my whole house, do all the laundry, and be intentional about the time and focus I spent on my kids. Half an hour into cleaning the kitchen I glanced at my teeth in the mirror and was reminded that I really need to see a dentist. Then I started to worry about how much it would cost and if they’d have to do surgery on my receding gums (tongue ring as a teenager), and how much would THAT cost and we’re self-employed so we don’t have any health insurance, etc. etc. I started worrying so much that my earlier gusto disappeared and I was left feeling deflated and unmotivated.
Has this ever happened to you before?…
With THM perhaps? You’re excited, you’re motivated, you’re inspired by all of the success stories, and then you worry that you won’t be able to afford all of the special ingredients. You start to wonder if things are actually going to taste good or if you’re going to waste your time. You start to question whether or not it will actually work for you, and before you know it you’re frozen and unsure of what step to take next. Fear immobilizes you, deflates you, and if you let it, defeats you.
Don’t get me wrong; thinking is a good thing. Overthinking, however, can lead us into trouble. Sometimes it’s better to just eat and figure it out as you go. If you make a mistake here or there at least you’re going in a direction. You can’t turn a ship that’s not moving so being frozen in fear will never get us to our goals. We must act, we must step forward, we must try that new recipe! 😉 Don’t let the fear of figuring this out stop you from stepping out in faith. It’s one step and one meal at a time. You’ve gotta start somewhere!
And in case you’re wondering, I did some research and found a student run/licensed dentist supervised clinic that I can go to for a fraction of the cost of a regular dentist. Don’t stay frozen in fear of the unknown, blast through that fear with answers and results!
As always I’d love to hear from you so if you have any questions or comments please comment below or email me at Meggan@thelaundrymoms.com
