Do You Feel Stranded?
by Hannah Keeley
One summer, while we were on vacation at Cape Cod, we took off in a boat and headed over to an uninhabited island so we could enjoy a picnic and do some shell searching. It was evidently a pretty popular adventure because several boats had anchored close to the island and people were having a great time enjoying the island. I noticed that one boat anchored really close to the island and while we were there the tide was going out.
Before long, the boat was stranded on the sand and the edge of the water was several yards out. After they placed a call into the weather service, they were told that tide would not be back in until after 7 pm (and it was noon at the time). They decided to make the best of it and have a cookout. After all, what could they do about it? Nothing!
Often, we feel like we are stranded in life. As much as we beat our heads against the wall, we can’t seem to find a way out of our situation.
This is probably how…
Joseph felt at times when he had been thrown in prison for no good reason at all. God had given him a dream, but I’m sure that at times he questioned whether he just imagined it all. After all, there he was, wasting away in prison, year after stinkin’ year! At one time, he was so confident in God. He felt so sure about his life. Now, all the gifts God had instilled in him were doing no good at all. But, what Joseph didn’t realize was that God was at work even in the dark times (especially in the dark times). He was moving behind the scenes, setting up the right people and the right opportunities. All that he required of Joseph was his faith and his obedience. At the right time, God was going to lift him up and pour His favor into his life. Think about it, God took him from prison to rule over all of Egypt in a single day. Imagine what He can do in your life.
God wants to pour favor into your life. He wants to lift you up and shine His light into your life. Your time is coming, Mama. I promise. All he asks of you is your faith and your obedience. Keep believing for the best in your life, because it’s coming. The tide always comes back in. Your only job is to make sure you are behind the wheel and ready to take off. God has mighty waters for you to sail in, so be at the ready. Scripture tells us that God knows the plans he has for us. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give us a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11 ). God has mighty things in store for you. Pretty soon, the waves are going to come in and the wind is going to fill your sail. Get ready.

Hannah Keeley was once in overwhelmed mom living in a cluttered house, deep in debt, out of shape, and barely hanging on. But one day, after finding herself sobbing uncontrollably into a pile of clean laundry, she realized God has bigger and better plans for her (just like He does for each one of His children). Beginning that day, she began making changes in her life that took her from overwhelmed to overjoyed. Today, she’s helping moms do the same. Hannah, her husband, Blair, and their seven children live in Richmond, Virginia, and are having the time of their lives!
