Debt Free Christmas
by Hannah Keeley
Here we are, on the verge of Black Friday.
By the way, have you ever wondered why it’s called “Black Friday?” It’s because it’s the one day out of the calendar year when companies experience the highest profit. It’s the day they go into the “black” (profit) instead of being in the “red”(debt). Being in the “red” means that their expenses outweigh their profits. Being in the “black” means their profits outweigh their expenses. Black Friday is the day that companies yearn for because they are making some serious money!
But I’ve got a question for you…
if these companies are moving out of the red and into the black in one day, doesn’t that mean someone must be moving out of the black and into the red?
Yep, and if you’re shopping til you drop on Thursday with money that you do not have, then that someone is YOU!
Make a promise to yourself that you will not go into debt this Christmas. Don’t be like the masses who are brainwashed into charging everything under the sun to give their kids and their friends gifts they don’t need. Give yourself a gift this Christmas and get your bee-hind out of debt. No gift is worth the stress and slavery that debt brings into our lives. Here are some tips that may help you:
* Make a budget (here’s a GREAT tool) and STICK TO IT!
* Use cash! Keep it all in an envelope so you’re more guarded in how you spend it.
* Homemade beats store bought any old day. Remember that!
* Make saving money this holiday a family project.
But I want to hear from YOU! What are your tips on saving money on Christmas shopping?

Hannah Keeley was once in overwhelmed mom living in a cluttered house, deep in debt, out of shape, and barely hanging on. But one day, after finding herself sobbing uncontrollably into a pile of clean laundry, she realized God has bigger and better plans for her (just like He does for each one of His children). Beginning that day, she began making changes in her life that took her from overwhelmed to overjoyed. Today, she’s helping moms do the same. Hannah, her husband, Blair, and their seven children live in Richmond, Virginia, and are having the time of their lives!
