What’s cooking in the Laundry Room?
“Honey, what’s that smell?”
“What smell dear?”
“I think it’s coming from the laundry room. It smells like…
Pot roast!”
“Oh, that’s dinner dear. And the baked potatoes are on the dryer.”
Ever had this conversation with your spouse? I was at church on Sunday, chatting with friends about different parenting and home management tips. One commented on how she keeps her Houston home cool during the summer at meal times, by cooking in the LAUNDRY ROOM! Confused at first, I asked her, “What did you say?”, and she told me that one way they figured out to keep their kitchen from heating up the entire house is to put the slow cooker in the Laundry Room with the door closed and that keeps the heat in one small confined place. That’s BRILLIANT! So after doing some research online, I found out this isn’t a new concept, women have been cooking in the laundry room for YEARS! Who knew? One lady shared that she has to keep her cooking in the laundry room when she has morning sickness because the overwhelming scents can be shut off in a small room. I didn’t even think about thanksgiving! Great idea! I love the Crockin’ girls recipes too!
I know this is an old post but I still wanted to comment. When I lived down south and had no air conditioning I would place my roaster oven and crock pots out on my covered porch and use them as much as possible for our meals. Did you know you can bake a cake in a roaster oven? I called it my summer kitchen.
