Changing The World

“Changing The World”

by Hannah Keeley

My son was reading a book about Archimedes. Right after reading time, he immediately ran outside and began to build a lever. He used a log for a fulcrum, and found a huge plank in the woods to make the lever. Then it came time to test it out. He employed his younger sisters to help him haul a huge pile of large rocks over to one end of the lever. Then with one soft step, he was able to lift those rocks.

It took work to haul those rocks. It took work to carry that plank (I should know. I had to help him). But when he saw how easy it was to move those rocks, it was all worth it!

Archimedes once said, “Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world.”

My question is this…

Are you ready to move your world? Are you ready to tackle it head-on? What are the rocks standing in your way right now (or boulders may seem more appropriate). Is it the clutter in your home? Maybe a marriage that is barely holding on? Perhaps you have a child that is going in the wrong direction and it’s breaking your heart. These boulders can seem impossible at times. You push and push against them, and feel like you are going nowhere.

Right now, I want you to step back and take a deep breath. Seriously. Deep breath. Now.

Maybe the struggle isn’t working because God never meant for you to struggle in the first place. God said that it should be on earth as it is in Heaven. Sometimes we try to get heavenly results through earthly struggle, and it just does not work. If you’re going to bake a cake, you need a cookbook. If you’re going to repair a carburetor, you need an auto repair manual. You get heavenly results when you operate by heavenly principles. Is this making sense to you?

Let me give you an example. Maybe your husband is lazy and doesn’t support you around the house. Earthly struggle means you need to nag him, bother him, scold him, and talk bad about him behind his back. Guess what–that doesn’t work. You’ll just get earthly results–a bothered husband who would rather do anything than come home to a nagging wife! So, let’s approach it a different way. You want heavenly results, right? You want unity in your marriage and peace in your home. So, what would happen if you operate by heavenly principles? Ask God to change his heart, love and support him unconditionally, build him up, believe that God rewards those who seek Him and that He will come through for you…I bet you would get much better results!

So, what kind of heavenly results do you want in your life? What boulders are standing in your way? FYI–Satan loves it when we struggle against those boulders because that means we are trying to get results through toiling in the flesh, and we have failed to employ the resources of the Holy Spirit. Quit struggling and start doing things God’s way!

Archimedes had it right. If you have a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, you can move the world!

The lever you need to use is your belief. How long is it going to be? Are you going to believe God for results in your life for a week or two? Or are you going to say, “No matter how long it takes. I am going to keep believing!” Faith isn’t faith until it is tested and tried.

The fulcrum you need to use is God Almighty. When you place your belief on Him, it’s like the man who built his house on the solid rock. No matter what storms came at him, his house stood firm! Quit placing your trust in the world, or in your efforts, or on experts, or the latest trends. God’s Word is the final authority! Put your belief on Him, and you can move the world.

First, it starts with your world. Step by step, you begin to see heavenly results in your life, in your home, in your career.

Then it spreads. First your world, then your family, then your friends, then your community. You can change the world, but it starts right there with you! You already have the tools you need to change the world. You have the Word of God and you have your belief. Quit looking for more! God never meant for you to struggle. If you’re going to labor to do anything, labor over the Word of God and put your faith into practice. Dig through the truth and find out all that God wants for you and do not stop until you get every single bit!

LM-HannahHannah Keeley was once in overwhelmed mom living in a cluttered house, deep in debt, out of shape, and barely hanging on. But one day, after finding herself sobbing uncontrollably into a pile of clean laundry, she realized God has bigger and better plans for her (just like He does for each one of His children). Beginning that day, she began making changes in her life that took her from overwhelmed to overjoyed. Today, she’s helping moms do the same. Hannah, her husband, Blair, and their seven children live in Richmond, Virginia, and are having the time of their lives!
