Bring Your Scale On Vacation

Bring Your Scale On Vacation

By Meggan Larson

Yep, I said it. What a ridiculous notion isn’t it? It may not be as ridiculous as one might think. In the past when I’ve gone on holiday it’s basically been a free for all where I would eat everything in sight and gain a solid 15lbs in a single week. Crazy right?? It really is. There’s no accountability when you’re on vacation though. You give yourself way too much leniency because “hey, it’s a holiday!” but then you’re left to pick up the pieces of your weight gain when you get home and the depression is real y’all.

That’s why…

Bring Your Scale On Vacation

I decided to bring my scale along this time. I was only going to a cottage for the week so I could easily pack it in my trunk. I’m not suggesting bringing your scale onto the plane with you (though if you’re up for it I’d do it) but this seemed easy enough. I’ve been weighing myself daily since October and it has been wonderful to keep myself on track. That’s why I decided to bring it with me to the cottage we rented for a week just to keep myself somewhat on track. I knew I was going to gain some weight because of course, we brought all the sugary junk food that I never eat anymore. Butter tarts, jube jubes, homemade waffles with sugar and flour, oh my! The first 3 days I gained 5 & ½ pounds!! Even though I hated to see that number on the scale, I was glad I had it with me because shockingly I had actually cut down on my portions because I knew I’d have to face the music every day. It is appalling to me how quickly you can go the other way when you just let loose.

I’m actually still on vacation for a couple more days but I plan to stay on plan for the rest of the trip. There’s no need to come home 10lbs heavier than I left and have to lose the weight I already lost!! I know that if I hadn’t brought my scale with me that I would have definitely gained over 10lbs on this vacation. There’s just no need for that, ya know? I look forward to going home and quickly losing the weight because it’s a lot easier for me to do now. Thank goodness for that!
