Bless a Mama
by Hannah Keeley
We’ve all been there, haven’t we? You’re exhausted and weary from caring for a child, but you’ve got to get out of the house and run some errands. Then, lo and behold, your baby takes a major poopage in his pants.
Before it leaks out all over the place, you’ve got to get to a changing station ~ stat! And obviously, you’re probably lugging around a diaper bag the size of a stove and a couple of other kiddos as well. C’est la vie!
You’re bending, and bending, and bending, and you feel like you’re going to break any minute.
I remember when it happened to me…
My toddler fell asleep in her car seat and my baby had just filled his diaper. I wanted to just go home and collapse, but I needed to get some groceries or we were going to be eating nothing but white rice for dinner; again.
I stopped at the store and strapped on the diaper bag/backpack. Then I pulled the baby carrier out of the base and put it on the ground. Then I pulled my sleeping toddler out of the car seat and held her in one arm. With the other arm, I shut the car door and picked up the baby carrier and started into the store. My arms felt like they were on fire! It was all the strength I could muster to carry that toddler with only one arm! I was exhausted and in pain (not to mention my baby had been up all night, so I was tired as well). Seriously, I don’t think I’ve ever been so close to breaking down in tears in public in my life.
But life goes on. There are diapers that need changing and groceries that need to be bought. We’ve all been there, right?
That’s why I started being a Secret Diaper Angel and would LOVE for you to join me in this mission. It’s so easy. Just write a friendly note, stick some money inside (maybe$5 or $10) and tape it on the inside of a diaper changing station inside a bathroom. I like to write, “for you” on the outside. This way, when a mom goes to change her baby, she will find a sweet note from you and some money to bless herself. You never know ~ this may be the one thing she needs to turn her whole day around!
One single act of kindness goes a LONG way. It’s amazing how that can change a person. How would you have felt if you had ever received something like that? I’ll tell you ~ you would have gotten your second wind! You would have been more likely to smile at your child rather than frown! You would have a renewed sense of hope! You just never know! So join me and be a secret blessing to a mama.
Remember, this is done IN SECRET so don’t put your name on it. Don’t worry ~ God sees. He knows.
Here’s what my notes say:
I just wanted to let you know that God cares for you and loves you deeply. You work so hard, and God sees every single effort. Nothing is overlooked! Every kind word, every sweet smile, every lost hour of sleep is noticed. You are a blessing to this child. Take this money and bless yourself. You deserve it, mama!
Write some notes (you’re welcome to use what I wrote) and keep them in your purse with a roll of tape and some $5 or $10 bills and start today to spread some joy among moms everywhere!

Hannah Keeley was once in overwhelmed mom living in a cluttered house, deep in debt, out of shape, and barely hanging on. But one day, after finding herself sobbing uncontrollably into a pile of clean laundry, she realized God has bigger and better plans for her (just like He does for each one of His children). Beginning that day, she began making changes in her life that took her from overwhelmed to overjoyed. Today, she’s helping moms do the same. Hannah, her husband, Blair, and their seven children live in Richmond, Virginia, and are having the time of their lives!
