Beat The Summer Stress
By Terri Bonin
Let me just start this with I love my kids. Truly, truly, truly, I adore spending time with them. It’s a joy to homeschool them and spend every day with these tiny humans. I know other mama’s whose kids go to school and are now on summer break and I can relate. We also break for the summer and though it’s full of beach days and swimming pools, sometimes the summer comes with something else…
I like the routine of school, snacks, and organized activities and when the summer comes it can feel a bit like a free for all. The kids want to play outside but then it’s too hot so they’re running around in the house like wild banshees and I can feel my blood pressure rising.
That’s when I reach for the Stress Away. This oil is at the top of my list for oils NOT to run out of in the summer. Sometimes I wear it, sometimes I diffuse it, and sometimes I douse myself in it and hide in the bathroom smelling it right out of the bottle. I need to remind myself often to let them do crafts, catch bugs, and do kid things instead of asking me for suggestions of things to do every two seconds.
Another oil I need on hand is JOY. When I’m at my wit’s end and need to be reminded that crumbs and dirt won’t always litter my kitchen floor that’s when JOY comes in handy. It helps me feel lighter and somehow helps me refocus so that I can appreciate the happy things going on. It’s not all messes and sticky fingers all of the time (though sometimes it really, really, feels like it). There are GOOD things happening all around me and sometimes I just need to take a minute and stop and smell the oils.
If you’re feeling like summer break can’t end soon enough, get yourself a few oils and help yourself through the following weeks. Take the time to enjoy this special time with your kids and remember that we only really get so many summers with them. We may as well enjoy each one.
