Be Kind To Yourself

Be Kind To Yourself

By Meggan Larson

We are three weeks into January and honestly, this is typically a tipping point for many people. You may be finding it hard to push through and keep the commitment you made to yourself. You may be feeling deprived and feeling like it’s just so hard to maintain this new lifestyle that you’ve started questioning whether or not it’s worth it to continue.

Let me assure you…

Be Kind To Yourself

It’s worth it. This may be the time that you need to remind yourself of exactly how you felt with the extra weight. How stuck, frustrated, and discouraged you had become. This is the time that you’ll be tested to see if you will push through. This is one of those moments that will determine how the rest of your 2018 will go.

Maybe your goal weight seems unattainable now that you’ve actually started out the year. If that’s the case then just change your goal! Cut it in half! Wouldn’t you be thrilled being halfway to your goal weight this year than even further away from it at the end? Friends hear me on this. Don’t let discouragement rob you of any more goals. Don’t give up on yourself; not now, not ever. It’s not too hard, it IS worth it, and yes you CAN do this.

If you need extra help ask for it. If the plan you’re on isn’t working find one that does. Nothing is set in stone here so stop treating your goals like they’ve been sealed in cement. Strive for progress, not perfection. Most plans are not executed perfectly so don’t get down on yourself for messing up this month. It’s really not a big deal. If you have a goal to lose 6lbs/month to get to goal weight by December and that goal is weighing heavily on you because you’ve only lost 2lbs this month ~ change the goal. Celebrate the fact that you’ve lost 2lbs! Any progress is good!

I feel like we give ourselves such a hard time for not being exactly where we want to be but my goodness, we need to lighten up! We need to give ourselves the same grace we would extend to a dear friend. So for the rest of this month treat yourself like you would a friend. Speak to yourself like you would speak to a friend. And encourage yourself the same way you would encourage a dear sister. Be good to you!
