I’ve been doing THM for over 3 years now and last week was the first week I ever made the Singing Canary. At first I wasn’t too sure about it because frankly it tasted a little “off” but with some tweaks it’s quickly become one of my favorite drinks. I drank it so often in a few short days that I lost 2lbs which really got me thinking. A few weeks ago I wrote about the stubborn loser menu that was getting so many people quick results and in it I talked about the importance of getting back to basics.

Well I was convicted last week as I enjoyed the many health benefits of the singing canary that I wasn’t utilizing ALL of the THM secrets I’ve known about for so long…



Many of the new recipes on Pinterest that are Trim Healthy Mama friendly are just recipes that have been converted from off plan to on plan or newly created recipes that work within the plan guidelines. So many of them are this way that I found myself starting to feel a little jaded about new recipes and disregarded old ones I had always known about – lumping them all into the same category. The reason I had never tried the Singing Canary is because (frankly) I was lazy and there were a lot of steps to the recipe. When I re-read the recipe last week I was reminded of the incredible health benefits that come with drinking it. Page 398 of the cookbook talks about how “it detoxes the body, beautifies the skin, has cancer-fighting power, weight loss benefits…and was carefully formulated for tired and inflamed bodies to heal adrenal glands.” I mean, that’s not just a packet of true lemon powder ya know? It’s a powerfully healthy drink that heals your body and like I said, I lost 2lbs just by drinking it for a few days.

Yes, some of the recipes found online and in the cookbook are just meant to be tasty and it can seem a little time consuming and tiring to go through them again and again. But some of the recipes are powerful health boosters and can heal things in your body that you didn’t even know were in need of healing! Don’t throw every recipe out with the bathwater like I was clearly doing. Go through them and take the time to make the ones that are specifically designed to heal your body. The authors have done so much research and have carefully come up with recipes to help each of us. Let’s save ourselves some time and actually make the ones we’ve been putting off for so long – especially if they’re the ones toting the amazing health benefits.
