Are You Sleeping?

Are You Sleeping?

By Meggan Larson

How rested do you feel friend? How dark are the circles under your eyes? Do the bags look like they’re about to accompany you to the store? There are many different reasons why your sleep may be affected at night but did you know that there’s an easy way to tell what you might need to supplement with based on when you’re struggling?

If you have a hard time falling asleep there might be an issue with your serotonin levels. If you find you wake up in the middle of the night and can’t fall back asleep easily then there could be an issue with your melatonin levels. Of course there are many other factors to consider like how stressed you are, if there is a crisis happening in your life, or if you just have too much on your mind.

One tip I got from listening to Terri Savelle Foy was to make a list of everything you have to do. Physically write that list down somewhere so that your brain can stop thinking about it. When you don’t write it down your brain has a hard time shutting off. Do you often find yourself being interrupted by thoughts of “shoot, I still have to do that!” and you still don’t write it down? Trust me on this. Write. It. Down. or it will come back to haunt you right when you’re trying to fall asleep.

So how does any of this apply to weight loss? It’s simple. When you’re not sleeping, your body is not repairing itself and it will stay in a constant state of stress. Sleep is soooo important to so many aspects of your health so if you’re struggling in this area you need to figure out why. It might be as easy as eating some extra turkey throughout the week and getting that tryptophan in. Or it might be more serious and you may need to reach out to your doctor to figure it out. Either way, it’s worth discovering the reason for the issue so that you can fix it!

If weight loss is your top goal for 2020 then it’s time you checked out the video mini-series-

I am serious when I say that if you’re tired of going back and forth each year and not getting any closer to your goal weight then this is the answer you’ve been praying for.
