Add Some Zest to Your Day!

Add Some Zest to Your Day!
by Ashley Knight

Why is it that some days the kids act crazier than normal? Is it barometric pressure? A kid conspiracy where they all gang up on us mamas or something else? I might never know why it happens but at least I have tools to help when those days roll around. There are many oils that may help to calm the house or uplift moods but often I love the simple oils the best.

Today I’m talking about…

Add Some Zest to Your Day

…orange essential oil!

This oil smells like the freshest glass of orange juice you’ve ever had.

Young Living’s orange essential oil is cold-pressed from the rind. Our family loves to drink Orange Vitality™ in cold water, hot water, and green tea. My husband has actually replaced his usual morning to-go coffee with green tea, honey and orange. This has significantly cut back on his coffee intake which must be a good thing since he used to drink almost eight cups a day. Eeek! Plus, we don’t have to worry about orange essential oil damaging the enamel on our teeth since it is made from the rinds.

Orange essential oil is used in many of Young Living’s oil blends because it’s very calming and uplifting. It is an emotional oil and can stimulate feelings of peace and happiness. This is why I like to diffuse it on those days when the kids are bouncing off the walls. It can help to restore my sense of peace and hopefully help the kids settle themselves a little better too.

I also read this great testimonial about how it helped a family with seasonal allergies. I think we can always use more ideas on how to battle allergies as it seems they are always bothering someone we know.

“Seasonal allergies assaulted everyone in our family this spring and summer. We were taking a natural antihistamine from our chiropractor which worked great. But it got to be expensive with all of us taking 10-20 tablets every day (about $.10/tablet). We tried essential oils that were recommended, but nothing seemed to help.

Eventually, we discovered that Orange oil worked for us. It worked out to be the same number of drops as the tablets we were taking. But Orange oil ends up being only $.04/ drop – less than half the price of the antihistamine!

Keeping up on the Orange oil also helped us avoid the usual colds and sinus infections that occur when your body gets overloaded with allergens. I hope you have a healthy season!”

It’s hard to talk about orange essential oil and not mention how it can freshen a room. Did your grandma have that orange room spray in her bathroom too? Diffusing orange oil smells so so much better than the artificial orange smell. One reason that orange air freshener was so popular is that orange oil can be an excellent cleaner. Young Living’s orange oil works much better than the artificial products. It can freshen the air as well as be a great addition to homemade cleaners.

Here is a helpful testimonial for those of who love DIY projects that end with paint everywhere and require something strong to clean up the mess.

“My husband is a painting contractor and is always coming home with paint on his hands, arms and face. One day when he was working with oil-based paint, which is very hard to remove from your skin, I asked him to try using Orange oil. Was he amazed when he put a couple of drops of oil in his hands and rubbed it around a couple of times and it was gone. He loved it plus it smells great too.”
-Anne T.

Due to it’s variety of uses, orange essential oil is a great addition to your home medicine cabinet. It’s also important to note that citrus oils shouldn’t be applied to skin that will be exposed to direct sunlight or ultraviolet light within 72 hours.
