A Safe Place for Your Heart

A Safe Place for Your Heart

by Diana Scothorn

Since I was about ten years old I have always been extremely fashion conscience. My mother would have told you I was a perfectionist. Everything had to be just right, in perfect condition, with every hair in place the “perfect” dress, the “perfect” bow, and the “perfect” shoes ((of course lol) the whole entire package.

As years have gone by, now I realize…

…all the perfect accessories in the world are not near as important as an inner heart that is pure and right before God! God looks at the motives of our hearts.

Psalms 51:10 says, “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” God wants our hearts to be unadulterated, so we do not become contaminated, with the world’s ugliness.

God knows our heart is fragile, yet the most vital organ for life. He knows a damaged heart can damage our life and is why He warns us to guard our hearts. What and who we allow to enter our hearts will determine the condition of our life!

For years I could not understand why I would be taken advantage of repeatedly. When we have no gage in our hearts, we will never be able to advance in life! A heart with no restrictions will lead to a life with no protection. It caused me to be in hurtful relationships, and it also continued to hinder the plan of God for my life

Proverbs 27:19 says, “ As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.” The good news is it is never too late to submit our hearts to Jesus. He will get you back on track and supernaturally accelerate your life.

1 Peter 3:3-4 tells us, “Your beauty should not come from outward adornments, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”

I still like to be nicely presentable, fashionable, and appealing to the eye, however, my greatest accessory is the reflection others see on the inside of my heart. When I leave my home now, I make sure I have a beautiful heart that leads others to the heart of Jesus! All matters of life flow from the condition of our hearts. When we become conscious of our hearts, others will become conscious of Jesus!
