A Day In The Life Of A Trim Healthy Mama
by Meggan Larson
If you’re anything like me you’ve struggled at times with the THM plan so I thought I would write up a day for me to show you how normal you are (or how NOT normal I am…whichever). I’ll preface this to say that I am a stay at home mom of three kids 7 and under and I started homeschooling last year so life for me is super busy at times and super boring at times with a whole lotta love splashed in between (and some yelling because uhhmmmn kids). So my day typically looks like this…
6:15am: Why am I awake? It’s not 7am yet. I’ll just close my eyes for a little…*GASP* “WHAT are you doing in my room??” 5 year old stares at me from directly beside the bed and asks if it’s morning time; it’s not. This continues every 10 minutes until 7 because I refuse to get out of bed before then even if I’m not technically sleeping.
7am: Roll out of bed, weigh myself. Tinkle, weigh myself again. Go downstairs and get breakfast ready for the kids. Debate between coffee loaded with cream or hot lemon water with collagen while the kids are now fighting at the table. Go with the lemon drink because it’s at least one good choice I’ll make today.
7:45am: Finally get my breakfast going. Making it easy today and having a piece of sprouted toast with a tsp. of peanut butter and ¼ banana sliced on top. Quickly get a half cup of 0% greek yogurt and whip it in the blender with a handful of strawberries and some sweetener while my 3 year old yells at me to give him some of my breakfast even though he’s eaten half my fridge. I don’t.
8:45am: I’m starving! It must have been at least 3 hours by now right? Oh, no it’s been an hour. I guess I’m not that hungry, just bored.
11:30am: AHHH! It’s been more than 3 hours! I quickly shovel several pieces of deli ham in my mouth with a piece of cheese and a pickle. Find a hardboiled egg in the fridge and hope it hasn’t been there too long. Whew, that’s better. Hangry mom can be reigned in again.
2:25pm: NAILED THE TIMING! I am the queen of THM! What did I eat for lunch? Was it an E or S? How can I not remember this, it’s only been 3 hours….
2:40pm: S! I remember now. I eat an apple with 8 almonds and feel like a rockstar for remembering to have an E.
4:40pm: Gah, what am I making for dinner?? Kids are fighting again. I can do this, I can do this. Thank you Jesus for my instant pot! Roast with radishes and baby carrots it is.
5:10pm: So hungry…meh I’m not waiting until 5:40pm I’m eating NOW! (Don’t worry, I only ate a couple baby carrots).
8pm: Man I’m hungry. When am I going to sleep? Probably not until 11, let’s be honest. Do I feel like skinny pop or pudding? I should probably eat the FP pudding. I really feel like a giant bowl of ice cream if I’m totally honest but that would ruin my day. What to do, what to do…
8:15pm: Shoving mouthfuls of popcorn in my mouth, nom nom nom. I did have the lemon drink this morning after all…
Hopefully that helps! Sometimes I’m super organized and plan everything out but most days I don’t. This plan even works for “us”. 😉
